When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you will always long to return. — Leonardo da Vinci

past enroute to rome and present now

to the mandolin’s note playing on, the beat wavers from its steady rhythm. starting off in simple and soothing cords as it slowly moves and ascends to the more complex and intertwined. in sync we gain some altitude and ascend above the clouds below which are some glimmering lights illuminating the city of Gdansk. the rhythm complete with articulate rises and dips holding in it the essence of both the renaissance and futuristic sounds, the flight pattern matches the rhythm from turbulence, smoothness, turns, crests and ebbs….

in a very steady flight having moved on over Gdansk after crossing the baltic sea, the playlist has moved on to the slow rhythm of choral music. the sun sets and with its lasting rays sending across a color coded message. bringing to life all the colors that is mostly seen only in rainbows when water and light collide, along with a plethora of other colors. from pitch black onto shades of orange as one moves the eye from below horizon to above horizon, with shades of blue and white from clouds fading into the overall gradient.

like always inspiring human kind to keep pushing the boundaries of art and science. similar to the destination of this flight i am in, with its own share of turbulence’s.

being seated in a lonely seat by the rear of the plane, i have the company of 3 families with little toddlers and mischievous kids playing along. i am the silent spectator and the alien in their world, ans as the norm goes i establish some eye contact with one kid. there begins the hide and seek game between me, him with the plane seat providing the cover. i let him win for some time, and then i win. forcing his inner instincts to take over, he uses newer seat like some early explorer using new land to show his might. i am amused and play along. the name of the game changes to throw the free ear piece forward and backward, and as expected i play along.

how the simplest of ideas make oneself feel so good and smile all day along, long lost is the innocence in some corner of the heart, waiting only to surface for breif moments to give oneself the taste of how life can be.

this is one section of the trip to Rome i had made during september 2008, with edyta, shubha and surya. all to get away from work and with all the things that was going on the office, guess that was the same time when i was condering quitting taking up a new job and keep the movement in life going on. close a year on and i took the job and now i am at nokia working on linux devices. a lot has changed since then, but then the essence of life does not seem to have changed for me.

this started as a draft being saved for close to 10 months i guess now, and now its metamorphised into a travelouge and status check :)

things that lie ahead

things that lie ahead

The clouds are rivers that already know the sea.

Rivers that have just been reborn in the sea.
They will rise to the sky, and remain there until,
for whatever reason, they once again become rain and fall to earth.
The rivers return to the mountains, but carry with them the wisdom of the sea.

absolute freedom doesn’t exist; what does exist is the freedom to choose anything you like and then commit yourself to that decision.

we’re always at war. We’re at war with death, and we know that death will win in the end. In armed conflicts, this is simply more obvious, but the same thing happens in daily life. We can’t allow ourselves the luxury of being unhappy all the time.

Thanks saravanan for the push :)

nothing

I have been not doing much, but still have not put an effort to find time to get blogging. doing nothing is not as easy as it sounds, and still i end up in problems, issues, adventure, experiences. life never ceases and it keeps on moving, changing and growing.

a short update, i finished my 3rd tandem sky dive this time in Finland in Ranta-Utti. work at Nokia has been getting hectic, with an initial threat to job for all in my department thanks to the economic situation (but then it was more like a false alarm, at least for a while as of now) to juggling multiple role changes. by the way i also added another drive to Nordkap, Tromso to the travel list. and topped it off with a drive to Savonlinna, in which i made the above mentioned tandem skydive.

To sign off, i am considering taking up a sky dive course and notch up some more air time. but then thats still under consideration.

Holding onto things forever is never possible, letting go is inevitable but the when and how is always in question. this indecision from our side only help authors to chalk up books and keep their coffers healthy.

amateur

i am an amatuer, some how dont seem to get a notch up and be part of the next level.

a drop for that matter itself would be a lot, when compared to what is. while the ocean would be too generic.

Dedication is simple yet complex, finding the right intent to get it going is the task in hand.
